Barcelona said in a statement on Tuesday that they had reached an agreement with the 20-year-old Eric Garcia returned to Barcelona. He will officially join Camp Nou on a free transfer on July 1 at the end of his contract with City.
The Catalan club’s contract with the Spanish defender runs until the 2025-26 season. His buyout clause is 40 crore euros.
Garcia is the second footballer to come to Barcelona from English champions City this season. Earlier in the day, the Spanish club announced the signing of striker Sergio Aguero on a two-year contract. They got both of them in the team in a free transfer.
Garcia, who has been at Barcelona’s academy since 2006, joined English club City in 2016. They made their debut in the main team the following year as a youth team. There were rumors about his return to Barcelona last season. Due to injury and illness, he has played only 12 matches for City in all competitions this season.
Another Premier League side, midfielder Giorgio Vinaldo from Liverpool, is also rumored to be joining Barcelona in a free transfer at the end of his contract.
