T20 World Cup

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to hold the rest of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates due to the coronavirus outbreak. They have also asked the ICC for more time to decide on this year’s T20 World Cup.

Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani had said that this year’s T20 World Cup would not be in India. Like the IPL, the T20 World Cup will be moved to the United Arab Emirates. Ehsan Mani has mentioned the September-October rains as the reason behind this.

“The ICC T-20 World Cup, which was supposed to be held in India, is now moving to the United Arab Emirates,” the PCB chairman told The News.com. India has been forced to take the rest of the IPL matches in the United Arab Emirates.

Before India, however, Pakistan has taken refuge in the UAE. They have also removed the remaining 20 matches of their franchise-based T20 tournament Pakistan Super League in the United Arab Emirates. Ehsan Mani said that there was no other way for Pakistan like India.

“There was no other way open to Pakistan,” he said. So the rest of the PSL matches have been taken to the UAE. There were two paths in front of us. Maybe cancel the tournament, or choose an alternative venue. This seems like the best time for us. That is why we have chosen Abu Dhabi. ‘
